General Elections
During the October 17, 2016 Regular City Council meeting, Councilmembers voted 4-3 to approve a resolution that moved the City's general elections from May to November. The adopted resolution in full may be viewed here.
In accordance with the Texas Election Code, the City of Missouri City will hold a General Election in November.
Positions on the November 2, 2021 Ballot:
- Councilmember, District A
- Councilmember, District B
- Councilmember, District C
- Councilmember, District D
The Notice of Deadline to File Applications for a Place on the Ballot will be posted to this page in June 2021 with the July and August filing dates and times.

- Mayor
- Councilmember At-Large, Position 1

Frequently asked questions
What is the signature requirement and candidate filing fee to run for the Mayor or City Councilmember seats?
The City of Missouri City has no signature requirement or candidate filing fee to run for any elected position.
When will the election packet be made available to the public?
The election packet will be posted to this election page in June or early July of each election year.
To whom do I file my candidate application to?
City of Missouri City general election candidate appliations are filed with the City Secretary.
When can I file my candidate application?
The notice of deadline to file applications for a place on the ballot will be posted to this election page with the July and August filing dates and times. The Secretary of State's important dates may also be accessed from here.
Due to the pandemic, are there alternatives to filing my candidate application?
Candidate applications may also be filed by mail (Attention: City Secretary, 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City, 77489), fax (281-403-8527), or email (CSO@missouricitytx.gov). The application may be viewed from here. If sent by mail, the application must be received no later than the last day candidate applications may be received by the City Secretary.
When may candidate political signs be posted throughout Missouri City?
The state, county, city and other governmental entities hold several elections throughout the year. A political sign placed solely for and relating to a public election shall be placed not earlier than the 30th calendar day before early voting.
When must candidate political signs be removed throughout Missouri City?
A political sign shall be removed not later than the third calendar day after the election date.
In the event there is a runoff election, the runoff election candidates political signs may continue to stay posted and must be removed not later than the third calendar day after the runoff election.
Where can citizens report concerns about signage?
Questions or concerns regarding sign placement must be reported to the City’s Code Enforcement Division using SeeClickFix.
