Council Connection

At their Monday, Nov. 4 Regular Meeting, Councilmembers authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute the calendar year 2020 medical insurance benefits contracts; authorized the City to dedicate an access easement in accordance with the Dry Creek Road and drainage agreement; and authorized the execution of a letter of approval to operate a non-emergency ambulance service. Here is a rundown of all Council actions at the meeting:

Staff Reports:

Received updates from City Manager Anthony J. Snipes, including:

  • A reminder to residents that Nov. 5 is Election Day and voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Snipes advised residents to be aware of increased traffic throughout the City while traveling to the polls.
  • A reminder to residents that the Missouri City Veterans Memorial groundbreaking is Monday, Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. on the City Hall Plaza located in front of the Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
  • The annual “Operation Thanksgiving” stuff the squad car and fire truck event is Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Public Safety Headquarters, 3849 Cartwright Rd.

Consent Agenda:

  • Approved the minutes of the Special and Regular City Council meetings of October 21, 2019.

Public Hearings:

  • Held a public hearing to receive comments for or against a request to zone an approximate 1.4197-acre tract of land, from CF community facilities district to I, individual district; providing for an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan; providing a penalty. The subject site is located on the south side of East Hampton Circle, north of Highway 90A, west of Fondren Road, and east of McClain Boulevard. Council unanimously approved the zoning request on the first of two readings.

Authorizations:

  • Authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute the calendar year 2020 medical insurance benefits contracts.
  • Authorized the City Manager to execute an amendment to the janitorial services agreement to include City park trash pickup.
  • Authorized the City to dedicate an access easement in accordance with the Dry Creek Road and drainage agreement.
  • Authorized the execution of a letter of approval to operate a non-emergency ambulance service.
  • Authorized the City Attorney, or her designee, to initiate civil proceedings for the enforcement of city ordinances at 12622 Grove Park Drive.
