At their Monday, Jan. 6 Regular Meeting, Councilmembers authorized the execution of the second addendum to the Steepbank Flatbank wastewater facilities agreement with certain participants; authorized the execution of a letter of approval to operate a non-emergency ambulance service; and authorized the execution of an amendment to City Contract #18-090 for the provision of preventative maintenance for lab equipment at City’s surface water treatment plant. Here is a rundown of all Council actions at the meeting:

Presentations & Recognitions: 

1.6.2020 CC

Mayor Yolanda Ford administered the oath of office to certain members of the City’s various boards, committees, and commissions.

Staff Reports:

Received updates from City Manager Anthony Snipes. He:

  • Reminded residents that 2020 is a Census year, and encouraged all residents to participate.
  • Informed residents that all non-emergency City offices will be closed on Monday, January 20.
  • Let residents know of roadwork at the intersection of Bright Meadows Drive and Walnut Ridge Drive.
  • Thanked Council for attending the Council retreat sessions on Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4.
  • Acknowledged that 36 employees are participating in High Performance Organization training from January 6 through January 8.
  • Announced a meeting with Public Improvement District Number 2, Section 5 for an assessment update.
  • Provided an update regarding LED lights.
  • Invited residents to Family Fun Night, mini golf edition on Friday, Jan. 10.

 Consent Agenda:

  • Approved the minutes of the special and regular City Council meetings of Dec. 16, 2019.

 Public Hearings:

  • Held a public hearing to receive comments for or against a request for a specific use permit to allow for the location of a place of assembly, located north of Olympia Gymnastics & Tumbling, south of Colony Lakes residential subdivision, east of a shopping center, and west of River Pointe Church, along Knights Court. Council approved this project.

 Authorizations:

  • Authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Dell Financial Services for the lease of a new upgraded backup solution.
  • Authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Dell Financial Services for the lease of a new upgraded Toughbook solution.
  • Authorized the execution of the second addendum to the Steepbank Flatbank wastewater facilities agreement with certain participants.
  • Authorized the negotiation and execution of a pre-construction phase services contract for the Mustang Bayou Wastewater Plant rehabilitation and expansion project.
  • Authorized the execution of a letter of approval to operate a non-emergency ambulance service.
  • Authorized the execution of an amendment to City Contract #18-090 for the provision of preventative maintenance for lab equipment at the city’s surface water treatment plant.
  • Authorized the execution of multiple contracts for the provision of off-site vehicle maintenance for fleet vehicles.
  • Awarded a contract for coffee services at city facilities.

 Resolutions:

  • Approved the submission of a grant application from the Texas Department of Transportation for overtime activities by law enforcement to reduce the incidence of traffic collisions, injuries, and fatalities; agreeing to provide matching funds; and containing other provisions.
