Missouri City was notified on Friday (Dec. 4) that registered voters who live in Harris County and who previously elected to cast mail-in ballots, did not receive them for the Dec. 12 Runoff Election.
Once notified, City staff contacted Fort Bend County because the County administers City elections, including voting precincts that are located in Harris County. Staff asked whether, per the contract, the mail-in ballots had been sent out. Fort Bend County verified that, in fact, they had not mailed the Harris County mail-in ballots.
Afterward, Fort Bend County staff then contacted Harris County and obtained the mail-in ballot list. It was determined that 378 mail-in ballots would need to be sent to registered voters.
Today (Saturday, Dec. 5), Fort Bend County staff prepared 378 mail-in ballots and the Missouri City City Secretary’s Office paid to have the mail-in ballots overnighted at a cost of $11,256.01.
Residents should expect to receive their ballots by lMonday, Dec. 7. Ballots must be postmarked by Dec. 12 to be accepted by Fort Bend County for the Dec. 12 Runoff Election.
