In an effort to more effectively serve residents’ needs, Missouri City employees shredded, recycled and deleted thousands of old and obsolete documents during the City’s first “Team Clean” day on Sept. 21.
A total of 20,140 pounds of material was shredded and 25,270 pounds of bagged items were recycled after a day dedicated to cleaning out and organizing work areas. The City’s Information Technology department recycled an entire storage room of obsolete software and hardware dating to the late 1980s.
According to Records Management Coordinator Vickie Berglund, who led the project, the “Team Clean” day gave City staff “an opportunity to review, organize and archive electronic and paper files, clear out non-essential files and clutter, all of which helps us to more effectively and efficiently serve our citizens.”
