Get In the Holiday Spirit


The Parks & Recreation Department has a full program agenda that is fun for all ages. Residents can get in the holiday spirit with a number of festive events; see details below:

Senior Holiday Party

Area seniors 50 and older are welcome to attend this year’s Senior Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the City Centre at Quail Valley, 2880 La Quinta Dr. The evening will feature a meal, piano performance and raffle prizes. Early bird tickets are $10 (the price increases to $15 after Dec. 1) and can be purchased at the Recreation and Tennis Center. Entry is limited to the first 150 guests.

Tennis Toy Drive

Join staff on Saturday, Dec. 16 for a social, competitive mixed doubles tournament focused on serving a good cause while having fun. Cost is $15 per player and an unopened gift for charity; the deadline to register is Tuesday, Dec. 12. Lunch is included in the cost. Children’s Fall Dance Classes

What: Fall Ballet and Hip Hop classes taught every Wednesday by former NFL Cheerleader Captain Latasha Gray. Parents can register their children by calling the Recreation & Tennis Center at 281.403.8637. Tuition is due by the fifth of every month. A holiday showcase will be held the last week of classes.


Toddler Ballet Class, ages 3-4 ($50 first child, $35 per additional child)

3 – 3:45 p.m. every Wednesday, through Dec. 6

Attire – black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes; tutus are optional

All-Star Ballet and Hip-Hop Class, ages 5-8 ($75 first child, $60 per additional child)

4 – 5:45 p.m. every Wednesday, through Dec. 6

Attire – athletic wear and tennis shoes (Hip Hop); black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes; tutus are optional (Ballet)

Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Painting Class

What: Painting classes taught by professional painter Heather Roy held in three-week sessions that meet every Tuesday. Classes are $45 each session, and all supplies are provided. Interested participants may sign up at the Recreation and Tennis Center.

When: 9 – 10 a.m. every Tuesday, Nov. 28 – Dec. 12

Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.

Senior Foodies: Brandani’s Restaurant & Wine Bar

What: A chance to dine with fellow Missouri City seniors at a local restaurant. Newcomers are always welcome! Interested attendees are asked to call the Recreation and Tennis Center ate 281.403.8637 to RSVP. Participants will pay for their own lunch on the day of the event.

When: 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30

Where: Brandani’s Restaurant & Wine Bar, 3340 FM 1092 Rd. #160

Group Piano Classes

What: Youth group piano classes offered for children in grades second through fifth. Classes are $85 a month. Students will have fun learning piano basics and how to read music. Classes start in December. To register, call 281.403.8637.


2-3rd grade lessons – 4:45 p.m. on Wednesdays

4-5th grade lessons – 5 p.m. on Thursdays

Where: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.

Electronic Recycling Event

What: A chance to recycle unwanted electronic items. For a complete list of disposable items, view this flier on the City’s website: http://bit.ly/2n4xulC. The event is free and open to the public.

When: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9

Where: Public Safety Headquarters, 3849 Cartwright Rd.

Tai Chi – Wu Hao Style

What: Tai Chi classes, now including a class for beginners! Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and is accompanied by deep breathing. Instructor Judy Pasadyn will guide all participants through warm-ups, Tai Chi Walk and Tai Chi 8 Form. Classes are $21 per month or $5 per class. To register, call 281.403.8637.

When: Tuesday and Thursday

Tai Chi: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

Beginner Tai Chi: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Where: Recreation and Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
