Missouri City’s contractor opened the Glenn Lakes Lane Bridge over Oyster Creek today (July 30); allowing traffic flow between West Creek Club Drive and East Creek Club Drive.
To celebrate the project, Mayor Allen Owen, Councilmembers Floyd Emery (District D), Jeffrey Boney (District B), Jerry Wyatt (At-Large Position #1), citizens, stakeholders and staff gathered on the bridge at 9 a.m. today for a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
At the event, Mayor Owen, Councilmember Emery, City Manager Anthony J. Snipes and Assistant City Manager Scott Elmer spoke to about 20 residents about the project, highlighting partners in Fort Bend County such as Precinct 4 Commissioner James Patterson and County Engineer Richard Stolleis.
“I would like to recognize our partners at Quail Valley Fund, who have installed planter boxes and lights along the bridge to help beautify the new overpass,” Mayor Owen said. “We thank everyone for their patience on this project, which was able to be completed ahead of schedule and will now be open before the 2018 fall school semester begins.”The reconstruction of the Glenn Lakes Lane Bridge over Oyster Creek was under way from October, 2017 to August, 2018 and cost $2.1 million. The project consisted of rebuilding the bridge using current engineering design standards; GC Engineering was selected for the design.The Fort Bend County Mobility Bond Program funded 50 percent of the build. City Council authorized NBG Constructors for the construction of the project on July 17, 2017.
