Parks Master Plan

What is a Parks Master Plan?

A parks master plan is a tool that not only documents the history and current state of a park system, but projects and guides the future development of the park system. The Master Plan seeks to identify both the assets and deficits of a park system and place priorities to address those identified needs. In the 2008 Missouri City Parks Master Plan Draft, needs were identified through public comment, public survey, typical park standards, and identified needs from the 1996 Missouri City Parks Master Plan.

The Missouri City Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to read the Final Draft of the Missouri City PARKS MASTER PLAN.

This comprehensive plan reflects the on-line public comments in September 2006, the 2001 Raymond Turco Associates, Inc. Recreation Attitude Survey results, national and state parks systems standards, and the existing parks master plan. It will also include appendices for the Trail Master Plan which will be initiated in the next few months as well as individual park development plans and associated cost estimates as they are prepared.
