Registration Requirements
Beginning January 1, 2002, the sale of electricity became deregulated. At that time, there was a number of retail electric providers marketing and selling electricity within Missouri City. Chapter 39 of the Texas Utilities Code grants authority to a municipality to require retail electric providers to register with the municipality as a condition of serving residents of that municipality. The statute also allows the municipality to assess a reasonable administrative fee for such registration.
A complete submission of the Registration Form consists of a properly completed form signed by an authorized representative and payment of Registration Fee of $25, in accordance with PUC Subst. R. § 25.113.
Note: A municipality may suspend or revoke a retail electric provider's registration and operation in that municipality for significant violations of Chapter 39 or any rules adopted pursuant to it.
