The Criminal Investigation Division operates under the supervision of the assigned Captain who reports to the assistant Chief of Police. One Lieutenant and two sergeants assist the Captain with the daily operations of this division.
The purpose of the Criminal Investigation Division is to conduct investigations of reported crimes against persons and/or property through the use of 12 trained and skilled Investigators and three Crime Scene Investigators. Each member is charged with the responsibility of preparing and completing an accurate document of information gathered for presentation of the County District Attorney for prosecution of the person(s) responsible for the crime.
The division also has one Investigator assigned to the Fort Bend County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Task Force. This unit investigates high profile narcotics cases in an effort to disrupt drug trafficking organizations. The HIDTA Task Force teams consist of a multi-agency team of officers in Fort Bend County from various local law enforcement agencies.
The division also has Investigators assigned to the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance (HTRA), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and United States Postal Service Task Forces.
A Crime Analyst is also part of the Criminal Investigation Division and reports to the Criminal Investigation Division Captain.
The Criminal Investigation Division frequently works with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
