Electrical Releases

Electrical Final Inspection

Prior to authorizing electrical service at an address, a project must receive a final electrical inspection from the city. This includes:

  • New construction;
  • Remodels/alterations/additions where power had to be disconnected;
  • Repairs to existing service (reconnect); and
  • New occupancy in an existing building or structure.

An electrical final inspection is part of a permit application process submitted for the type of work being performed. Upon approval of the final electrical inspection city staff will notify CenterPoint Energy that the property is authorized for electrical service.

Energy Provider

The owner / applicant must request service with their energy provider before electrical service can be initiated. It is helpful to the process if this request is made before the city notifies CenterPoint Energy.
