Sonya Brown-Marshall
Sonya Brown-Marshall is the chief executive officer of a real estate management firm that operates and manages a portfolio of corporations and not for profits, all governed by diverse and independent boards of directors, city councils, developers and business owners.
Sonya’s career spans over 30 years and includes achievements in strategic initiatives that involve budgeting and project management, which have cumulated into millions of dollars being invested back into well-designed infrastructure and new amenities for the portfolios and various communities which she serves. She has developed team implementation strategies that remove all of the emotion, yet produce clear project plans that are sustainable and have true value.
Sonya has been a property owner and resident of Missouri City for 28 years and is dedicated to seeing Missouri City’s continued and successful growth. Having served on and as the chairwoman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, she has had the distinct pleasure of being involved with and approving billions of dollars in plats. Those plats have brought businesses, homes and infrastructure to the City of Missouri City. She also has served on various advisory committees and focus boards. Her dedication to the City does not stop there.
On November 8, 2022, the citizens of Missouri City, Texas elected Sonya to serve on City Council as the At-Large Position No. 1 Councilwoman. With the City now being 66 years old, Sonya is prepared to forge a path toward the imminent need for redevelopment, continued growth and support for public safety and business development that will keep our property tax rate down.
Sonya’s promise: to use her experience, to advocate for citizens and to work cohesively with Council in finding balanced solutions. Sonya is supported by her husband, retired police officer Anthony Marshall, and their two sons, Payton and Mathew.
