Frequently Asked Questions: Municipal Solid Waste Program

Happening

With Spring cleaning ahead, City officials and staff have received a number of inquiries regarding the Municipal Solid Waste Program that provides regular and recycling pickup services to citizens through a contract partnership with WCA.

The FAQs below address the most recent solid waste questions being asked in the community:

Can I get a larger/smaller cart?

Yes. WCA will take requests throughout the year and provide the new requested size in the first quarter of each calendar year. Residents have the option of a 65-, or 95-gallon cart for garbage and recycling. To request a different size, please contact WCA Customer Service at 281.403.5800. Requests received after March 31, 2019 will only be processed in the first quarter of 2020.

As a new resident, who do I call to set up my trash services?

To request new containers and your service schedule, contact WCA’s customer service at 281.403.5800.

How do I request new containers if my originals are broken?

New containers may be requested by contacting the WCA customer service line at 281.403.5800.

What do I do to report a missed service?

If you have not received service, you may call WCA’s Missouri City Customer Service line at 281.403.5800. This number is also printed on the lids of the trash and recycle containers for future reference.

What if I can’t roll my cart to the curb, due to health reasons?

WCA offers a free valet/assisted service for residents with health concerns. To sign up for the program, contact the WCA customer service line at 281.403.5800 or complete an application via the City website.

How am I billed for solid waste services?

Billing depends on the location of the residence. Check with your HOA to see if billing will be through your Municipal Utility District (MUD) or through the City, directly.

What is the current solid waste rate?

$13.26 per month.

When do I need to place my carts out for service and when should they be stored away?

Per City ordinance, all garbage, trash or yard waste can be placed on the curb at 6 p.m. the day before pickup. Empty trash cans must be stored out of public view by midnight the day of pickup.

What are the collection service hours for the Municipal Solid Waste Program?

Collection occurs between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
