Lane Closures on Independence Boulevard Segment 2 Continues

As part of the reconstruction of Independence Boulevard Segment 2, the City’s contractors began alternate lane closures along the roadway from Moore Road to South Revolution Way on Monday, Nov. 25.

Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use extreme caution while travelling in the area. Traffic control devices will be in place and the construction is expected to be completed by summer of 2020 pending weather.

The project includes the reconstruction of the existing two-lane concrete roadway into a four-lane concrete curb and gutter roadway utilizing the existing closed conduit storm system. CP&Y was selected for the design.

The total estimated cost is $2.5 million and the Fort Bend County Mobility Bond Program will fund 50 percent of the project.
