MCTX CARES Act Fund: Rental, Mortgage & Utility Assistance Program Launched Today, Sept. 28

Happening

The first public initiative on the Council-approved Missouri City CARES Act Fund launched today, Monday, Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. The Rental, Mortgage & Utility (RMU) Assistance Program will help residents affected by COVID-19 by paying their rent or mortgage and utility payments beginning Oct. 2020 through Dec. 2020, or until the allocated $500,000 funding is exhausted.

Interested citizens are encouraged to visit www.missouricitytx.gov and click the CARES Act Programs graphic on the image slideshow on top of the homepage (see below) to review eligibility requirements and to apply.

Residents with additional questions and those who do not have access to a computer or internet may contact the CARES Act call center at 281.403.8690. Case managers will be able to assist callers Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 pm.

Through the RMU Assistance program, eligible residents could get:

  • A maximum rent or mortgage allowance of $2,000 per month per household; and
  • A maximum utility allowance of $500 per month per household.

As payments will not be made directly to the residents, landlords and mortgage companies are required to do a separate enrollment application. Those who participate in the Landlord & Mortgage Company enrollment will get:

  • Direct rent payment for their eligible and approved COVID-19 impacted tenants, OR
  • Direct mortgage payment for their eligible and approved COVID-19 impacted homeowners.

Additional programs under the MCTX CARES Act Fund, including assistance for businesses, will be launched in the upcoming weeks. For all details regarding the Missouri City CARES Act Fund programs, visit: http://bit.ly/MCTXCares
