You may have seen the Show Me City’s newest purchase rolling through your neighborhood. The Elgin Broom Badger, a new street sweeper truck, was recently delivered to City Hall and will be an essential tool in helping to keep our Platinum Scenic municipality clean and green.
Odis Jones, CEO/City Manager, thanked City Council for approving funding of the $210,035 purchase. “We are happy to have this resource that will allow us to provide better service to you (the public),” City Manager Jones said.
The truck is a popular model because of its size. “It is smaller and easier to maneuver down some of our tight streets (such as) our cul de sacs,” said Mike Tubbs, the City’s Fleet and Facilities Manager.
Cleaner streets make for a more beautiful city, engender pride among residents and prevent pollution of waterways by keeping debris from getting into storm drains.
