Fort Bend County has partnered with Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital to offer a drive-through COVID-19 vaccination hub at Smart Financial Centre. Previously a COVID testing site, the hub is now open to vaccinate individuals age 65 or older and others who fall within the State’s Phase 1B guidelines. Patients will be seen by appointment only; walk-ins are not allowed.
Although appointments quickly filled up when registration opened this morning, the County is expected to receive more doses of the vaccine. To register or to learn more about the vaccine rollout, visit http://bit.ly/3pK2cMJ.
At last night’s Virtual Regular City Council Meeting, Fire and Rescue Services Acting Chief Mario Partida gave an update on the City’s COVID-19 response. As of Jan. 21, 2021, 4047 Missouri City residents have tested positive for COVID-19, with 748 active cases and 75 deaths. Demand for the vaccine is high right now, but supplies are limited and the City is not a vaccination provider. The State is working to deliver additional supplies.
This week, Fort Bend County will get a one-time allotment of 30,000 vaccines. These doses were set aside for long-term care facilities but were not needed. The doses will go to Fort Bend County Public Health, Memorial Hermann and Houston Methodist in Sugar Land. It is unknown when the County will move to Phase 1C of vaccine distribution, as State officials will make that determination.
