Missouri City Municipal Court Receives Award at Technology Conference

MunicipalCourt

MISSOURI CITY, TEXAS (October 11, 2023) - The Missouri City Municipal Court has a reason to celebrate. At last month's Court Technology Conference (CTC) held in Phoenix, Arizona, and in front of 1,600 attendees, the Missouri City Municipal Court team won second place for its submission to the Court Capers Challenge. The entry highlighted how the juror experience has been optimized using a new software by Tyler Technologies, known as Enterprise Jury Manager.

"We were the first municipal court in Texas to adopt this new technology," said Brittany Rychlik, Director of Missouri City Court Services. "We took a process that, for years, had been all manual and made it digital in all possible ways, for internal and external processes."

The submission included detailed information on why this product was chosen and provided a behind-the-scenes look at the steps needed to implement it. It also provided information regarding the training required. In recent years, the public has become more accustomed to interacting with a screen, as an increasing number of entities adopt automated solutions. Tyler's jury management digital platform streamlines the work of jury clerks and court executives, so they can get insight on the data to help them manage jury operations.

Missouri City Municipal Court implemented this software in October of 2022. Prospective jurors can fill out required questionnaires online, request exemptions, and reschedule jury duty. Using information prospective jurors have provided, court personnel can send text messages with reminders, date or location changes, or cancellations.

Jury duty is considered one of the most powerful ways for citizens to participate in the judicial system. Learn more about the operations of the Missouri City Municipal Courts.
