Construction on Hurricane Lane, which began in June, 2016, is now complete; the roadway is planned to open to all traffic on Wednesday, May 24, weather permitting.
A new two-lane roadway was constructed to extend Hurricane Lane north from Trammel-Fresno Road to Lake Olympia Parkway where it will connect to the Fort Bend Tollway. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) constructed this project, which was 80 percent funded by the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP); the City’s 20 percent match was $2.1 million.
Trammel-Fresno Road will be completely reconstructed from asphalt to a four-lane curb and gutter, divided roadway with raised medians. Beginning Tuesday, May 30, Trammel-Fresno from Hurricane Lane to Vicksburg Boulevard will be completely closed to all traffic for this project. A detour route will be setup to allow drivers to travel on Hurricane Lane north toward Lake Olympia or south toward State Highway 6.
This project is estimated to take approximately 365 days to complete.
